Public School Fire Inspection (OSFM)

An old schoolhouse was easy to inspect. Today, public schools require many skills to assess safety.

Illinois law now requires an annual fire safety inspection of all public schools by either the OSFM or the local fire department but that inspection must be conducted by applying OSFM's adopted Life Safety Code or any locally adopted regulations.

McHenry Township Fire Protection District is required to Inspect all Public & Private Schools within our Fire Protection District. The MTFPD currently conducts Fire & Life Safety inspections on 17 public and private schools.
